No. 4 Alabama will play No. 7 Utah in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2

No. 4 Alabama, playing in its first BCS bowl in nine years, faces undefeated No. 7 Utah, an at-large selection. The Utes last played in a BCS bowl after a perfect 2004 season when then-coach Urban Meyer led his team to a blowout win over Pittsburgh.


As for coach Nick Saban, he will return to the scene of one of the biggest wins of his career. Following the 2003 season, his LSU Tigers defeated Oklahoma 21-14 to win the national title in a game played in the Sugar Bowl.

In other bowl announements, North Carolina State and Rutgers will meet in the third Papajohns.com Bowl in Birmingham Dec. 29.
